Position Overview:The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator is responsible for the monitoring of all Terminal 4 security systems and equipment in the SOC including but not limited to cameras, alarms, radios, and security communications; tracking, reporting, and recording of incidents; and working closely with all security stakeholders. The Operator, SOC reports to the Manager, Security Operations Center. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $60,000 - $62,000 Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors all Terminal 4 Landside, Terminal, and Airside locations using the provided access control software and CCTV cameras for unattended bags, traffic conditions, incidents, accidents, suspicious activities (hustlers, bag thieves, pickpockets), and security/safety related activities
Monitors all security alarms & alerts, and directs appropriate personnel to any activated alarms
Maintains a report of all pertinent security-related activities, including responses to alarms, emergency calls, notifications, incidents, and accidents
Monitors all equipment in the SOC and action or report any malfunctions accordingly
Monitors, actions, and responds to alerts within emergency notification platforms for incident/accident reporting and traffic-related conditions
Maintains control of, provides direction, and coordinates all radio, telephone, intercom, and public notification systems communications related to SOC
Reviews CCTV camera feeds and additional resources in the event of a security breach or security incident
Tracks security-related activity via documents (Towing, PAPD Response, Permittee Violators, Hustlers, Door & Camera inspection, etc.)
Monitors general facility and area conditions, works in coordination with JFKIAT Operations Control Center (OCC) and reports deficiencies to required departments
Works closely with and supports the Safety and Security shift supervisor during daily operations.
Responds to any issues or complaints
Assists in medical and other emergency situations
Performs security and safety-related audits as required by JFKIAT
Always provides outstanding customer and employee service and presents a neat and clean appearance
Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
Performs other additional tasks that are deemed security related by JFKIAT or that are listed within the published post standards
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
High School diploma is required
Bachelor’s or Associate degree on safety, security, airport operations, or any other relevant field is preferred
At least 2 years of experience in SOC, security, or safety operations
Special Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport
Full-time, shift, rotating, and weekend work are required, as Terminal 4 is a 24-hour operation
